what would you do if you were on the Titanic on the night of April 14, 1912? Would you have given up your seat for someone else, jumped off the ship in a suicide attempt, or "paid for a seat" on a lifeboat .....What would you have done?
By the way I'm related to someone who died on the Titanic, a long distance relative on my great grandpa's side.

It depends. Based on several scenarios, this is what I would have done.
1) If I were single, I would have tried to get on a lifeboat.
2) If I were married with kids I would have gotten on the lifeboat.
3) If I were pregnant whether I was married or not, I would have gotten on the lifeboat.
4) If I was married with no kids, I would have stayed with my husband.

I would help to save others first like my grandpa. By the way my grandpa Maximillian was on the Titanic and died trying to save others and my grandmom. His last dying words were "You must go on and live a happy life for the sake of our childrens. You will always be in my heart". After that he sink to the bottom of the sea with Titanic.

If I had the money I would have paid for a seat on a lifeboat. Otherwise I probably would've just hoped for the best.

That is a tough one! I would make sure all the children got on a life boat before me. If I was alone I would try to get on one too. If I had kids and my husband I would put my kids on and try to get the two of us on. If neither one of us could get on I would send my kids off to safty and probably jump and take a chance! I am going to go one way or the other.
That is facinating you had someone in your family on the Titanic! I am assuming they made it?!

The thing about situations like that is you don't know the gravity of the situation until it's over. People giving up their seats, I am sure they didn't think at the time they were making a life or death decision.

I'm sorry for your loss. I probably would have done the same thing that Rose and Jack did (on the movie). Try to stay on the ship as long as possible then jump and find something to float on. I would have been terrified though!
