if you use a dosbox that you can get free it will make windows 95 games work on xp all the time.

9 times out of 10, windows 9x and 3.x programs even will run under XP. If they don't, there's a built in fix!
First step is to install it. If it tries to complain about wrong directx versions ignore it.
After it's installed, find it on the start menu and right-click on it. Then go to properties and a window with some tabs will pop up. The one you want is the one that says 'compatability'. Click the checkbox and select the older environment the program was designed for. Click ok and try to run it!

Well maybe your computer is too new for your old games unless you buy something that will let you play old games on you new computer.

you can't cause any damage or corruption, however a lot of old win95/8 games just will not work on a new pc.
