Me & My husband recently moved to Denver where there is an abundance of prairie dogs. We used to live in Texas where they are almost extinct. Recently, we had a blizzard(just yesterday actually) and we were curious if when all the snow starts to melt and possibly flood their homes, if they can swim out or if they are likely to drown? Hopefully not. Just curious if anyone knows...

Think they are safe:

"prairie dogs can swim and narrow creeks and ditches are not effective barriers, but they usually do not set out across large ponds, reservoirs or rivers"

Besides, they are probably smart enough to head for higher ground if the water starts coming in!

It takes alot of water to drown the little bastards and their tunnels are complex enough to save their stinking hides.
