well you don't have to, but it would be nice. Maybe you could make them something (like cookies) or give them a flower or something..
no matter what though make sure you send a thank you card.

If they have already given you the gift and you gift later, they will know that you did not have one prior to them giving yours. I wouldn't worry too much about it as your bf will probably tell them your situation. If you don't have the money, get the kids gifts. If you feel bad get them something that doesn't cost much like a candle or bake them some Christmas type stuff. They will understand.

A card is thoughful enough. Just because someone buys you a gift, there is no obligation to return the gesture. How about baking something for them? A home-made gift is nicer than anything you could buy, anyways.

I would get them something inexpensive and symbolic - maybe a gift certificate to a restaurant, or a box of good chocolates. It's the gesture, not the cost of the gift, that counts. You don't have to spend more than $10-$20.

If your financial situation is tight and you have other obligations, I bet his parents already know and understand this and just wanted to do something nice for you. If you really want to do something, maybe you could bake them some cookies or brownies or something. Or ask your boyfriend to split the cost of a gift that could be from both of you.
Happy Holidays!

Well, I suppose if you can't buy them something, just make them something. Perhaps try to make dinner and invite them over. Tell them that you really appreciate the gift and maybe cook some of their favorites. Making a card might work as well.

You could buy a cheap box of candy, or bottle of wine to give them. A buddle of flowers from the grocery store. Just remember it is the thought that counts, not the cost. You could bake them something too.

They have great gifts at the 99 cents store. Give each one a present.

Then give them a nice thank you card with a handwritten note inside about how much you appreciate them thinking of you. Perhaps a little inexpensive flower arrangement to accompany it.

get them something simple. get them maybe a box ofr chocolate or something, or some flowers in a vase. depends on what they got you for christmas. if its something big, then its ok to spend a little more money on them, like maybe a gift card since its for both parents. if its something small, chocolates or flowers are nice gifts. good luck!
