Go through your closet and throw out everything that is stretched, doesn't fit you right and that you don't feel good in (Sweat pants don't count...you may feel good, but they make you look frumpy if you wear them out side of the house)
Next, try a new make-up style and hair style. Buy a few new outfits. A nice pair of shoes. That should do as far as your appearance goes.
Other things that can improve your image are your posture, how you speak, what your goals are, what motivates you... do you have opinions on things or are you wishy washy, are you confident in yourself.... etc.
If you are trying to change your image with people you have known for years, it may be close to impossible for people to change their opinion of you. I would recommend moving if that is the case and start fresh somewhere else.

get an attitude adjustment, many people don't have the resources or oppurtunity to get makeovers and monthly gym membership fees can begin to add up. but if you have a positive view of who you are, so will others. you don't have to be dressed in the lastest, most expensive clothes, or drive the best car. those are just things, and they don't determine who you are. all you really need is some confidence and it will take you a long way. as long as you are neat and clean and can walk with your head held high people will notice you. if you can't make it to the gym, go walking for exercise, do situps/ pushups in the house with your feet under the couch for leverage. a nice smile also helps too!!! All the best.

Focus on the postive and actively avoid thinking negative things.

That little voice in your head that says "That was so stupid, I am so stupid/ugly/ingorant..." - whatever, is incredibly powerful so put a muzzle on it.

It's really hard to adjust habits, takes continuous conscious effort but if you really work on it your habits will change and the new, substutited, positive thought patterns/behaviors/activities will get easier and will eventually become the new habits.

I am speaking from experience, I started focusing on being happy, feeling good about myself and my life about a decade ago. It still takes work sometimes but I am happier with life and myself than I have ever been - it just keeps getting better.

Nip negative thoughts in the bud.Accentuate the positive and accept your flaws, for you are human, don't bully yourself.Replace criticism with encouragement.Don't feel guilty about things beyond your control,.....in other words, don't feel responsible for everything, give yourself a break."Forget and Forgive"dum, dum, dunnnnnn (a biggie)Focus on what you can do ,not what you cant.Treat yourself Kindly.

Self-talk is a great way to boost your confidence, if you say negative things to yourself, you will feel negative, positive self-talk=positive feelings. Go to a spa, make yourself feel beautiful! Make yourself look and feel better!
