I have been selling on eBay for 7 years. However, in that time I have sold many of my own personal items that I didnot use anymore: clothing, shoes, athletic wear, bike gear, children's items, accesories, etc.
There have been times that I have gone to Ross, TJ Maxx, etc and scoured the clearance racks for some deals, which I was able to re-sell on eBay for much more. Especially sthletic wear by name brands such as Nike do very well.
I've also found great deals at garage sales and thrift stores. I once bought a St. Johns Knit Dress at a thrift for $4.00 and resold it on eBay for $100.00. It was in brand new condition which really helped.
I always tell people to "sell what you know". For me, it is fashion. For others, it may be electronics, artwork, antiques, etc.
There are wholesale companies that I have heard of that will sell large pallets of items for people such as ourselves who like ot sell on eBay. I've not done that, but I do know of others who have. Right now I just concentrate on clearing out my closets. One mans trash is another mans treasure.
Lastly, before you bother to sell an item and take timeto do it, you should go to ebay and do a search for that item. Once you have found a page selling that same item, go to the left of the screen and click on "completed auctions". It will then look up only those auctions that have already closed for that same item. It will give you a good idea of what to price your item at or if it is even worth trying to sell.
Good luck to you! Hope that helped a little.

I really failed to get profit through eBay and ended eBay made profit from me throught the products' listing fees. Other thing that will be happen is the fake email that will be send by other user to you. Some people bidding for fun too. The worst thing happened to me was somebody sells a car through eBay and he was using my eBay account, he must be damn smart to get access into it! Luckily I have checked my account earlier and the listing fee was few thousands. I managed to rebate the fee in my credit card and fee was waived by eBay too. If you are doing eBay business, please ensure that you gonna check your account few times in a day, not few times in a week like what I did!
If you interested in internet business, give yourself a chance to choose a better business where you are not going to sell a physical product. Once you involved in internet business with physical prducts involved, you will have to handle delivery, purchasing and you will face a problem like items not receive by the buyer or damage/missing during delivery. My suggestion is, go for the internet business which requires less of your time and the one that will not make you feel headache with web designing, or which require IT knowledge. Second, choose the internet based company which offer you the opportunity and at the same time giving you the convenience to start the business. Third, choose the business, which does not require big money to start it.

I agree with the guy above me with the garage sales. I supported myself for a whole year doing that. My best was when I picked up a whole lot of the old star wars toys paid 60 and sold all of it on ebay for over a grand, and I had various luck with all the other things people are just tying to get rid of

You need to find a niche segment you want to focus on first. Depending on what you want to focus on, I can point you to the right direction.
