Old enough to make you feel it is not going to continue this way, that it will stop (e.g. make you feel the happy days of power and strength are over, or show that some "lifting" - a kind of renewal is necessary, or even force you to realize you are the one who is tired with the whole thing). When talking about age, the wrinkles, the general look on a 60year old's face may make him appear old, while a 75year old's smile may make you feel he/she is a child and is not going to pass away any time soon (stereotypical example, but true).
