Capitalist theory supports the concepts of success, competition and most of all the profit margin.
Let's examine a couple of the claims against WalMart who excel in all areas of a capitalist system..
1) WalMart kills small businesses. Is this really WalMart's fault, or are these businesses just unable to compete and thus doomed to fall victim to any superior marketing strategy?
2) WalMart uses foreign labor for manufacturing. People demand low priced goods. WalMart provides these low prices. Should WalMart be forced to use American manufacturing and then rather than pass along the price to the consumer instead be forced to take less in profit?
3) WalMart makes too much money. Why is it such a crime to be successful? and Who gets to determine how much is enough?

These are just common examples, but feel free to add to the list if you wish. For those against WalMart and other entities please explain how your views can be seen as anything other than socialistic?

SCHLANGEMANN: I completely agree that if people do not want a WalMart in their neighborhood they have every right to challenge it. Neighborhoods should reflect the residents. However, I completely disagree with your position on small business. Small businesses do not enjoy any more rights than large companies and must find ways to compete or go out of business. This is the nature of business for all players. As for monopolies, WalMart is not a monopoly, there is ample competition from other big box stores for the same dollar and infinite selection for the consumer.

dopeadevil23: I know plenty of people who workj for WalMart and they all assure me that this is not true. In fact most of them tell me they are very happy working for WalMart.

Gman: Believe it or not I can respect that opinion more than many I have heard even though I don't agree with it. At least it is based in an honest criticism.

kit: You do not have to rich to be a capitalist. The concept embraces personal achievement where socialism completely retards it. Failed pension funds are a different matter entirely, this is criminal and should be vigerously opposed and prosecuted.

iqstrike: You can hold whatever opinions you like. The capitalist model is succeeding where socialism and communism are failing miserably, even China is slowly moving away from the socialist model. Further there is nothing dishonest about asking who gets to determine how much is enough. Your theories falls flat on one truism. WalMart does not determine how much they earn. Consumers who shop at WalMart determine how much they earn. You grasp of free market theory is beyond weak.

I'm not against big business and can't be more of a capitalist with my mindset, but Walmart is guilty of killing comptetition from smaller mom and pop shops that are simply trying to make a living. There is nothing wrong with making profit and being successfull, but smaller businesses also need to be given a chance at success without being run out of the neighborhood by the bigger fish. Many people don't want Walmart in their neighborhoods not because they have something against Walmart per se or the products they sell, but because they are concerned about their local communities and people losing jobs as a result of local shops being forced out of business. Take Microsoft for example, as Bill Gates is living the true American capitalist dream, but make no mistake of the fact that he is a monopolist, and any company that tries to compete with him is either sued out of existence, or bought out by him. Is this capitalism? No, because the Sherman Antitrust Act does not allow for monopolies, but Microsoft is getting away with it, and Walmart is playing the same game by bending the rules of what Capitalism should not be.

Socialism is state capitalism, capitalism is Communism for the rich, who can use their wealth to overpower fair competition. As has been done with the concept of Christianity, capitalism can be defined any way economic bullies want to in order to give an idealistic disguise to their dictatorship. Reaching a certain level of success by competitive superiority, the bullies can use that success to destroy fair competition. It is as if the NBA champions got the first draft pick, so capitalist theory is a pack of lies that describes an unreal situation. Without unions, it is man against millionaire. Also, it is one-sided: If the boss has the right to tell us to go work somewhere else, why don't we have the right to fire him?

Your phony capitalism is hypocritical if it believes in the right to inheritance, which it always does. Does the heir earn his wealth and dominant economic advantage?

As for your last question, it is dishonest and, as usual, one-sided: Why does WalMart get to determine how much is enough?

1. It violates the concept of freedom that this country is based on. 2. Socialist countries have little growth and poor economies. 3. The people who deserve the title of socialist are those who want to use the government to take our liberties through forced taxation.

What's wrong with socialism?

The real argument against Waldo-mart is the exploitation of it's workers. They are forced to work without pay, and most do not receive benefits.

you are mistaken if you think capitalism includes "competition", true capitalism is anti-competition and leads to monopolies, you need government interference to insure competition

Most people who think they are Captialists really have no capital at all. They will be fighting for their pensions and are just average hard working people. Capitalism doesn't really benifit many people at all.
Some of the attacks on Walmart are Socialistic, others are not.
