Recommendations:
Borat - So rediculous it's hilarious - not for the easily offended - a good buddy film.
Stranger Than Ficiton - Quirky and funny but with a touch of romance - a good date film.
Little Miss Sunshine - Disfunctional Dramedy - for those who've ever not been sure what to do with their life, and don't mind laughing about it - a good best friend film.
Casion Royale - Bond - James Bond - More realistic, which is good and bad. Lacks the typical opening action sequence.

I understand The Queen, The Departed are also good - haven't seen em. Pan's Labyrinth (spanish, historical/fantasy escapism) opens next week and looks pretty good if you like that particular genre and don't mind subtitles.

As to some others' recommendations: A Night at the Museum looks pitiful, I've heard that even if you Ben Stiller at his best, you should reconsider. And Eragon, most of my friends who saw it trashed it.

Apocalypto was a great movie. Regardless of Mel's words, he is a great director. The movie is action packed and also has some sad moments.
