IF YOU CAME TO THE HOSPITAL, WHO CARES WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE, YOU ARE THERE FOR HEALING.(you get my point). now when the salvaging process is complete and God blesses you with better things, you become an employee, now you need to have a decent uniform on, when a soul to be saved comes in from the storm!

I think if more people stopped worrying about what they have to wear to church and just go, grow closer to the Lord and be of service, then maybe we wouldn't have so many issues in this world. Now don't get me wrong, if you have money to shop for the club, your job or any other event, you should be able to come to church with something decent. Now if the only thing you have to wear are belly shirts and pants that show the imprint of your thong, then I don't think the Lord is judging you. The fact alone that you went to church would be more of a concern. I think when we so call ourselves Christians we aren't to judge the person that we see walk into our church dressed that way. Instead, being a good Christian, we should perhaps pull the person to the side and maybe ask if they need any extra clothing for church instead of make them feel as if they are not accepted.

We gotta give a person credit for at least coming. Some people may have never been to church or have surrounded themselves with people who go to church. So they might innocently not know what to wear. Honestly, it is really their soul that we should be more concerned about.

First off...

The "body" is the temple... Not a Building.

GOD doesnt reside in a building anymore..(not since the Temple at Jeruselum).

JESUS CHRIST sent the 'comforter', or the Holy Spirit to reside in each of us.

We "congregate" in a building, and worship together, but, as for "it" being holy...NADA!
(Especially when you get churches that are turned into brothels and strip clubs and all other forms of debauchery!)...

What they go in, makes them "comfortable...I would rather see some one come in a bathing suit, torn jeans, ragged clothes or anything...and fellowship, then NOT come at all!!!

Not "being there" is a loss for them and the congregation for not being able to fellowship and teaching the Word to them.

Salvation is not about a beauty contest, or contest of who is wearing what these days...its about getting people to CHRIST...

Remember, when they come to CHRIST and are 'Saved'...They will be leaving behind the "old life", and putting on a "new life"...They will be "putting on CHRIST!!!"

Never put some one down for what they are wearing, because they may not come again, and if a potential Christian is lost....then, its on "your head", when the LORD asks "Why?"

For your sake...I sure hope you have an excellent answer!

I wish you well..

Jesse

Well, I agree with you that some attire is inappropriate for church, and really shouldn't be worn at all. My opinion is I don't like to see others' butt cracks - it makes me uncomfortable!

But as far as the Lord goes, I am sure he does not want us to judge these people. He would rather have them in church worshipping him in low risers than not there at all.

My church has relaxed a lot and many people started wearing nice jeans and sweaters. My pastor has started wearing dress slacks and dress shirts instead of suits every Sunday.

I think as society's dress code relaxes as a whole, church will follow - they want people to feel comfortable, so they have a "come as you are" policy.

Holiness is light coming from within, some people can't afford Huge church hats and expensive gowns-the point is to worship God. Folks thousands of years ago worshipped Him in loin cloths and others were probably naked. Showing butt cracks is going too far, I agree. But if you have a problem with someone's dress code approach them and ask them why.

I know what you mean. there are plenty of folks looking like they just came from the club. But we have to let them come as they are & let the Lord do the rest. If they don't know the Lord, we can't expect them to adhere to His laws. If they do know the Lord (not baby Christians) then an older sister, mature in her faith & known for speaking the truth IN LOVE, should speak with them (after she's established a relationship.)

We are to model Christ's standards but we Christians are so far up to our necks in the world's mess that we aren't being an example to anyone. God is definitely going to hold us all accountable for that.

God MADE US, and gave us free will. It is only the people that we deal with, down here, on a daily basis, who care what we look like, when we go to Church. How many times, have you seen on T.V. a nice dressed woman, or man in front a church, saying, that they cant believe, there son killed someone, there baby is god-fearing Christian

You don't need to have the most expensive of clothing, but the clothing does need to be modest. The Bible speaks of modesty and soundness of mind. Look up 1 Timothy 2:9 it says:

"Likewise I desire the women to adorn themselves in well arranged dress, with modesty and soundess of mind, not with styles of hair braiding and gold or pearls or very expensive garb but in the way that befits women professing to reverence God, namely, through good works." This shows what God expects from as as respect to dress, including men.

some people have no respect for themselves or a church; however, if you consider yourself a good Xtian, you should be more concerned that they're in church for the right reasons (such as spiritual enlightenment) rather than coming to show off their sunday dresses or suits.

Do you dress up when you go to your father's house? Then why should people dress up when they go to THE father's house? God sees us everyday and he knows who are and loves us anyway.

It is something God will hopefully call to their attention. LEAVE THE JUDGING TO GOD. IT IS SHOWING GOD'S LOVE THAT IS YOUR JOB!!!!!!!
