I used asprin when I first brought it home and some of that cut flower preserver the next day. It still absorbes some water but all of the needles are falling off. The big party is at my house for my new inlaws and my family. I just don't have time or money to put up a new tree! Helpful answers only please. Thankyou

Did you re-cut the base so the water can absorb up into the tree? When they cut the tree, it forms a "scab" on the base and water can't get in unless you re-cut or poke holes in the base of the tree before putting it in water. If it's already drying out, it might be too late.

Don't worry! Trying to make Christmas perfect is the only real problem with Christmas. Why not make a family holiday adventure of trimming a new tree? Everyone can pitch in five bucks, and you can go out and get a replacement tree, make some eggnog and hot chocolate, and everyone can re-do the tree and enjoy some family time and when Santa comes, he'll enjoy the fresh smell of pine. Just go with it!

You need to cut about an inch off the bottom and immediately put it in water. And make sure the water never goes below the level of the cut part. It seals very rapidly and then takes up no or very little water.

If its really bad, call the place you bought it from. A friend of mine bought a tree and it died after only 3 days. She called the place she bought it from and they replaced it for free. If they don't want to replace it, you might be able to afford another one. The places selling real Christmas trees where I live is offering them at 75% off because they want to get rid of them before Christmas. Maybe this is true where you are.

Did you cut an inch off the bottom when you got it? If not, I think it's too late if the needles are all falling off.

Pour honey in the water. We do that to our tree every year. And it doesn't dry out.
