how long to wait until the ps3 price drop?

I refuse to pay that much but i want a ps3

let's do some math

it costs over 850 dollars to MAKE a ps3 (i don't understand why 40gb less = 100 dollars less though)

a ps3 retails for 599.99 for the 60gb (or something)

every system made is pure loss of revenue

they hope to make money off of games, periphials, accessories, and movies

when to expect a price drop? maybe a fifty dollar drop, late in 2008 is possible - but by then, inflation will have brought the dollar to a point where that's actually not a price drop (as the dollar stands now)

There are many factors to this price drop.
First of all, the game lineup for PS3 is not amazing. They are made on Blu-Ray Discs making them extremely expensive and not necessarily better than Xbox 360.
Second, The way the price is now i find it hard to believe that many people are actually buying them except extreme gamers. If you have the money the PS3 is a "must have".
For people with strict budgets, another alternative is the Xbox 360. It has more games, better graphics, and it is an older system (Meaning that Microsoft has had more time to troubleshoot problems.) Also, the Wii rating in at $250 is a great competitor. The Wii uses special controllers to actually put you into the game. It is kind of like the PS2's eye toy, but it works with every game.
Prices may drops for the PS3 depending on upcoming reviews and problems or the lack of. Good luck

If you don't want to pay that much, you can always get a used one. It's just as good. You still get the same warranty if you get it from a store.

But if you want a brand new one at a cheaper price, it's probably going to be at least 2 or 3 years before there's a drop. Maybe a little over a year if PS3 is in 3rd place in 2008. But if the PS3 is the leading console in 2007, then there probably won't be a price drop until 2008 or 2009.

go play it at target or another store with a display model.

or wait til you find a used one somewhere.

it surely won't be long now. with those kinds of prices and not to mention an already dissapointing game lineup, it's either that or sony'll go broke.
