You need to explain to your mom that being emo is not just the sterotypical suicidal teenager. Talking to your mom and parents is very important, however you may feel it is not worth falling out with her about. She obviously has a misconcepted hate over emo in general. But remember this when deciding: Nobody has the right to tell you how to be. Be yourself and as long as you are happy with it nobody else should govern you. But be careful when dealing with it. You should try and explain what emo is all about. Make sure she knows all the facts before deciding. If after trying to talk to her nicely about it she disagrees it is up to you how to act.

Why are you labelling yourself and why are you telling your mother that you are emo? My 15 year old daughter hates it when someone says she is emo but I suppose a lot of her clothes are that style. I happen to think she has a great sense of style. The clothes are actually great. Just don't wear black all the time...dress it up with splashy colors. My daughter has this cute little red dressy jacket that looks great with whatever she wears. Your mother should realize you are just a normal teen trying to express yourself. Just don't go all crazy and cut yourself because some people think that's what emo is all about but it isn't.

People usually don't wake up and decide to go emo one day. Its a gradual change. So start gradually introducing little aspects of the lifestyle, so she can get used to it. But emo kids are always so depressed. Adopt the look, maybe even some of the music, bt not the attitude. Be happy. Good luck!!

Why don't you just BE YOURSELF? Sounds to me like you are turning emo 'cause it's the "cool" thing to do. I remember when I was a teen parents used to say "If all your friends decided to jump off a bridge, would you do it too?" Well, seeing as how today's society is, I guess people would jump off a bridge. Everyone thinks it's cool to be suicidal and cut themselves. I cannot believe this is what's trendy today.

Well you don't have to go 100% EMO overnight. Just start slowly and don't make a big deal out of it. Go with your personality. And try not to freak your mom out too much just let a week pass then take it to the next level.

Okay if you say that ur all of a sudden turning emo......ur not. you sound like you arent depressed at all, and your falling to either peer pressure, or the style of it. if you cry in your sleep, cry in dark corners, cut yourself, and/or lsiten to death metal; then you can consider yourself emo. being a poser gives everyone and especially family members the wrong idea.

Just what are you so sad about? Do you get live in a house? Do you get food everyday? Do you get to go to school? Do you have a TV to watch? You obviously have computer and internet access.
You know who should be EMO? Poor starving kids in Africa. They actually do have SOMETHING to be sad about.
Boo-hoo, your parents are divorced. Welcome to the club which consists of 50% of America and counting.
