I've made myself the same question... After consulting several sites on the Internet, and reading several reviews, I came to the conclusion that it all depends on what you want, and the features you prefer in that camera. It's all part of a trade-off, some cameras give you this, while others give you something else. Once camera lacks this, the other excels in that... The best advice is go browse this site, they have lots of advice about cameras in different price ranges:

OH OH OH! its this pink one..
hold on.. let me go find the paper i have on it..
dammit. i couldnt find it.
but i think it was a sony.
and it was like $275 maybe?
and there were a bunch of different colors.
but the pink like supported breast cancer or something.
