Where do you think humans would stand in that alternative history?

No - they had about 360 million years before they were wiped out. In that time they stayed essentially the same (big lizards) - they had reached the 'peak' of their evolutionary tree and were stuck there.

We have had about 60 million years - and in that time went from 'a small shrew like creature' (mouse to you) to a clever ape (me & you :-) )

They would not have evolved like humans. By the time the meteor hit, the biodiversity of dinosaurs appeared to be collapsing. The promising lines for humanlike intelligence were already extinct.
Humans would not have evolved in the non-asteroid scenario.

Dinosaurs are not extinct. Only those which didn't learn to fly. The flying ones are all around us.

Any race could evolve towards intelligence, provided they have the need and the means (hands) to manipulate objects in different ways (not just to build nests).

If you accept the theory of evolution then the answer is probably
yes.In Australia where marsupials predominated they evolved to fill
almost every niche in the animal world.Millions of years ago there was a marsupial tiger,a grazing animal the kangaroo, gliding marsupials, burrowing wombats.a marsupial wolf. You name it.If there is life no matter how different it seems that it will evolve along a path that will fill various niches

What PragmaticBeliever is saying, in an indirect way, is the many scientists think modern birds are descended from dinosaurs. That theory is widely, but not universally, accepted.

Given enough time, anything can evolve into anything. From the perspective of evolution, every living thing is just an amoeba with features.

Somehow I can't imagine a dinosaur driving a BMW and drinking Starbuck's.

No because, even if you do believe in evolution, lizards snakes or alligators didn't evolve like humans either.

Probally not. They wouldn't have a chance to evolve because when one dino evolves the others will eat it since it's such an easy target.

No question - there is evidence they were evolving intellegence, too. Some scientists say if they kept going the way they were, they would be smarter than we are now.
