earlier today me and the missus were counting up our xmas cards, she got 75 i got zero zilch nada! nada single one. she said it doesnt matter they're both ours stop being so pedantic, i says "pedantic how dare you cast dispersions on my good name, i've never touched a child in my life". so i went and got a chainsaw, cut the xmas tree in half, kicked her half into her corner and dressed my half up all twinkly with fairy lights. shes now away to bed in the huff.

Nowhere on that webpage is there any mention of Christmas cards or disheartenment at the lack thereof, particularly in light of your gloating wife's stack of the them. Personally I think your reaction was not only well-balanced and effectively executed but if I were you I'd continue to push this point until your wife insists that pernickety would, indeed, have been a more appropriate adjective to employ given the context.
I'd feel lost, lonely and dejected if Christmas wasn't peppered with violent outbursts and general overkill. Good on you mate, go and treat yourself to a few beers in a strip club.
