As a firm believer in creation at the hand of a supreme force in the universe I do not accept any of mans religions . The celebration and traditions of religion are the truest form of indoctrination used to control man by man .
We all know killing is wrong along with lying ,cheating ,stealing ,and other truths recorded as the word of God .
This does not mean we should support a government that harms others through the use of religion .
If we step back and look at what religion has done to man over the last 10,000 years we can see that none of them are fit to be followed .
I like a good party as much as the next guy and if you want to decorate a tree and have people over that is fine with me . Celebrate life and its good fortune with friends all year long to be happy and enjoy life .
But if you want to reserve Christmas and new year as that time fine with me . I think you all are a little nuts for believing in a God who has not been seen in 2000 years . Why does he not stop in and visit Bill O'rielly some time and spread the word .Make one twenty second commercial to show is interest and love for mankind . Stop the war in Iraq Or return the 100,000 killed because of the tsunami . This would get all people world wide on the same page . And last forever .
But It seems he is unwilling to do so .
Therefore in my mind all I can do is live a good life .
These means no killing for any reason no stealing or lying because it tends to hurt people and in general do no harm to others .
If this gets me sent to hell then I hope hell is full of people just like me . NO prayers to Jesus or God needed just live a good life and care for our fellow man .
All the praying in the world has never fixed anything and thats a fact .
Believing in your self is much more important in surviving cancer and other illnesses often attributed to some miracle of Gods hand when you get better . What about all the one who died .
Guess they did not believe strongly enough .
Its hypnosis and anyone who believes that crap deserves what they get .Which is nothing . Hypnosis is not real ,like magic is not real .
AN explanation exists for everything if you want to find the truth .And it has never been God .

I'm a Christian, not a liberal and still think religion should be kept out of public schools except a time of silent reflection or prayer to your higher power, god or spiritual adviser or just to reflect on the up coming day. Who this is should not be dictated to you. Thus the term "public", for every one, even those that have no beliefs.
We do have privet or parochial schools where you can choose the basis of faith that is taught to your children. And don't forget home schooling, where you are in charge.

Liberals do not want this country to become a theocracy. While I have the freedom of religion, it is not something that is to be practiced by the government. Why can you not get this through your head? This country was founded on a separation of church and state!!!!!! I practice my religion in my way, and respect others' abilities to practice or not practice their religion on their own terms! This government has no right to impose your religion on everyone. If you cannot understand that, I will ask you, are you American? I am a Christian and American, but I also understand and respect that someone can be a Jewish American, a Muslim American or an Atheist American.

a liberal is capable of celebrating christmas and christ without demanding that the government pay for it.
as shocking as this may be, liberals actually believe that there are some things in which it is inappropriate to involve the government. God is one of those things.
If you want Christmas in your schools, that is why I support the protection of your right to send your children to Christian schools. Your choice not to do that does not give you the right use government funds to force little Jewish kids or atheist kids or whatever to celebrate your religious holidays.

I side with the liberals, and I'm a Christian (Lutheran). How is this possible? I believe that only God has the right to judge, and that we should not impose our beliefs on others. If a person wants to believe in Jesus, they should do so by themselves, not because they are forced to. I do not believe in converting people, and I do not believe in disrespecting other people's religions by forcing their children to learn our religion in PUBLIC schools. If you want your child to be taught only religious ideas, then by all means, send them to a Christian school! (You are free to choose which school is right for your child! Thank goodness for freedom, right? But freedom isn't just for you, it's for everyone) I believe that people should be able to make their own choices, and yes, I am pro-choice for abortion. Yes, abortion is sad, and I wouldn't do it myself, but who am I to say what is right for the entire population? A subjective and religiously based opinion should never be a law. I celebrate Christmas because I am happy for the birth of Jesus, and no, I don't get free handouts!!

Correct me if I'm wrong; but Christian was first used in Antioch 2004 years ago to mean someone that does the things Christ did. That archaic meaning could even apply to a Muslim or a Redpublican. If they healed the sick and walked on water etc.
Go big Red Go

I am a liberal and a christian. I recognize that not everyone is a christain though. I would greatly resent going to school and being forced to say islamic or jewish prayers. I therefore dont want to force anyone else to say my prayers. Besides just because I dont pray in an organized fashion at school doesnt mean i cant pray whenever i want. I talk to God all the time, it is a personal relationship between me and him.

I consider myself a liberal AND a Christian. What's your problem, buddy?
I think that everyone, everywhere is free to worship and pray all they want, but why should I have to listen to them in public, or "join in their reindeer games" if I don't want to? Is it really any different than having to listen to some dipstick on his cell phone talking about his spastic colon or other disgusting problem?
God is omnicient, so that means he can read your thoughts anytime, anywhere.
So, why do I have to tolerate your charismatic show of faith?

because being liberal has nothing to do with their religious backings. see we believe in the Constitution of the United States, something conservatives could care less about. i am a firm believer that you can have your churches for religion, and the government for everything else. just because i believe that a person should be allowed to have an abortion doesnt make me un-Christian. it doesnt even mean i believe in abortions, just the right. that person may not have the same beliefs as me, so why should i have the authority to tell them otherwise. our nation should not favor one religion over the other. thats why religion has no place in public schools. im sure you wouldnt like it if your child had to pray to Satan every morning because their teacher worships the devil. think about that for a little while. our schools are filled with all kinds of different people, with different beliefs, so why should they have to conform to ours. we wouldnt want to conform to theirs now would we???

How can judgemental conservatives call themselves christians?? Let he who is without sin cast the first stone..... Maybe you should reread the good book and remember that god's message is one of love and tolerance and forgiveness and not judging and hating. Just a thought! Merry Christmas
