Whatever funds set aside for Education, Health and Family Planning Projects pass through conduits having many side outlets leading to the kitty of Politicians and Babus, and not reaching the Population at grass root level. Hence there is no awareness and health consciousness among the common mass who are in the poverty lines. While the Politicians rob the nation through Scams and frauds , the deficit is made good in the budget by new taxes and levies leading to steep inflation.. The rich have diverse avenues for entertainment and Leisure, while the poor don't have any other alternative except to seek refuge in the Bed. Lastly our Legal System which do not interfere in the matters of Family Planning not followed by other religions

Baiyu is right bang on ! The primary cause is illteracy. There are numerous other causes too like empowerment of women, bias towards male children so the woman keeps producing till she bears a male child, lack of entertainment in rural areas.
Dr DeLight is absolutely wrong. Hinduism does not advocate having tons of children nor does it say abortion is a sin like the Roman Catholic church says.

It has nothing to do with illiteracy at all.
It is the Religion here!
Just like the Roman Catholic church in Mexico and South America who preach it is an immortal sin if the people do not have 6, 7 or more kids.

first it is lack of population control.IN china if they have morethan one child then they wont give citizenship and other preveliges to the family.because of the strict government of china there population is in china.but here in india we dont have any rule so parents prefer to have minimum of two children.
