I would say park in a MBTA parking lot and take the train. A MBTA lot will cost you about $5...parking at the Garden is a lot more expensive. If you park at Lechmere Station, you're only 2 stops on the Green Line from the Garden. You can even walk it - about 10ish minutes.

If you park directly at the TD BankNorth Garden it's about $28, depending on the event. . .However, places close by still cost in between $10-$25. In my opinion, you're probably better off parking directly under the arena, if you only save a few dollars. Depends though, because if you don't have kids with you, or don't mind a 5+ minute walk (in what could be very cold weather the next few days!) then save yourself a few dollars, and park in any of the lots on the side streets around the Garden.

If you drive to the Garden for an event (Celtics, Bruins) you will see plenty of people waving flags telling where you can park. But be careful to park somewhere - where you are not blocked in (or block someone in). You need to be gone within 30 minutes of the end of the game.
