My fiance plays games like Rainbow Six - Vegas and Ghost Recon, and I noticed that enemies are always refered to as a "tango" or "tangos" where does this orignate from?

Tangos are (besides being the army phonetic for the letter T) "Training Fire Teams".

It could be that the video game is conceived as training... The training "enemies" back when I was in the army training were called Tango Teams.

I am not a game player but I do know that “tango “ American Spanish, possibly of Niger-Congo origin Ibibio tamgu, to dance, is a euphemism for fight so I would assume that the one you are fighting could be called a “tangos”.

Tango is the word used in phonetics to mean the letter T. T as in target.
