An example of someone communicating to promote misunderstanding is when the Nazis circulated propaganda (posters, flyers, etc.) to convince people that Jews were a lesser race or inhuman.

An example of people using communication to prevent misunderstanding is when they use the little symbol in a person wearing a dress on the door marked "WOMEN" to help people understand it is the ladies' room. The word and the symbol both help communicate whose restroom it is, and prevent people from misunderstanding and entering the wrong one.

Hope those help!
