You can't put a lien on someone's property unless you have a special relationship to that person such as if you are a contractor building a house or if you are a health care providor who provided services and they have pending litigation.

It really depends what they owe you money for and who you are.

Depending on the situation, you might want to sue them for the money they owed and get a judgment agains them for the money.

Only the courts can rule on this, and you would have to take the person to court to get a legal judgement against them, which can in effect get a lien put on their property.

Mary,

Try the sites below. Make sure to change the state in which you live on the 1st site. The second site is a VERY affordable way to obtain an Attorney/Law Firm in your State. Hope this is of service to you.

Sincerely,

Get Justice!

Take them to court and get a judgement against them Unless it's a large amount you don't need a lawyer. Good luck! I hate deadbeats.
