It has to be half of your height, no matter how far or close you are.

That's correct! As long as the top of the mirror is halfway between your eyes and the top of your head, at the lowest point.

IT IS CORRECT for a plane mirror but with some conditions.mirror has to be at least half of Ur height to see yr complete reflection.
but this size of mirror should only be placed to a special position to see Ur full reflection. It is that top of mirror should be approximately between Ur head and eyes.

for any other position of mirror u need a bigger mirror.

also if Ur mirror is less than half of Ur height then u cannot see Ur full reflection yourself no matter where u put that mirror vertically.

It would make no difference as long as the mirror is convex or curved out at the center. Go to a fun house that has different mirrors in it and you will understand, or look at the round mirror on a school bus or on the passenger mirror on your parents car. The convex mirror makes you appear to be further away than you actually are.
