Matters who is writing the history books... I took an english class the other semester that made all good writers look gay or divorced and miserable by simply leaving out that authors that were married normally were ever married at all. Just be choosy about who's interpretation of history you read. Religious histories do tend to be rather racist. While military histories deal a lot on economics.
Another thing, if you're tending to look at it with liberal mentality, everything will look racist to you except for actions against white Caucasians. That's what the liberals are programming you to believe. (Giving a scholarship to an Indian, a Latino, a Black-American is all just fine but giving a scholarship because a person is white Caucasian is wrong in liberal mentality.) Perhaps you need to reconsider what you actually believe is racism.

Young lady one thing you must understand is that whatever it is that is taught in schools about history, it is only partial. There is more to it than what you see. Take American History for a second, it teaches about Slavery and how Blacks were slaves. It hardly ever mentions how there were White slaves too and how in many states Black slave owners owned the majority of slaves in that state. Obviously what is taught is not the whole truth, one must dig if one wants to know, but if you dig you might not find something that you like.

Remember - history is in the PAST. It does not necessarily tell you what people are like TODAY.
You may like a saying my grandma used a lot - "Hate the sin, not the sinner."
I believe we are all capable of hating other people, whether it's based on race, religion, or just what high school they attended. It's human nature to feel a sense of belonging to a group, and to believe your group is better than other groups. But we also have the intelligence to know that no one group is "better" than any other. That intelligence frees us from our basic instincts.

I was raised by a father who looks, acts and sounds EXACTLY like Archie Bunker.
Ignorance makes people racist.
most people are ignorant and therefore most people are racist without even realizing it. So I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.
If you were raised in a tolerant home, you are just a smaller part of the population. Thats all.

I can't agree with you more... Remember History is written by the people who actually won... wars, strifes etc...Not necessarily the truth

We read history to understand why to not be racist.
It's now your turn to do it correctly; don't allow yourself to be despised by the children.
