Um, Aspen litter is a wood chip and it is healthy for your small pets, unlike cedar or pine. Kaytee is a good brand, or there is a brand called Yesterday's News which is made from newspaper, but they've extracted the ink cuz ink is bad for your pets. I personally recommend aspen litter myself, been using it for years and it hasn't given me any trouble.

NONONO. Kaytee's is the worst possible brand you could get. They claim they're the best, but people have proven otherwise. Some of the ingredients in their foods/treats have been found to contain CANCER-CAUSING substances! D: PLEASE, don't get Kaytee. There's tons of other brands out there that are much better. You'll thank yourself for it.
Get some aspen shavings if you're low on cash, they're not harmful. NEVER use pine/cedar, very dangerous to small animals. I use CareFresh for my rats. It can be flushed in the toilet, and though a tad dusty, it's the best bedding I've ever had.
Also, if you'd like to try a homemade bedding, you could try ripping up some of your old clothes/paper towels for some soft stuff for your pet to sleep in. The only downside is that it collects urine and smells real quick. But it's reusable! :)
Good lucK!

I use Carefresh, and it works very well. It is biodegradable, so it is better for the enviroment. Another plus is that it will not make the air dusty, and it soaks up very well. I have used it for my rabbit for a long time, and I have had no problems.
Hope this helps!

most likely you got your "small animal" from the pet store. If not then from somebody who did. Either way ask what they use and that would be a good choice.
Currently we have CAREFRESH pet bedding for my son's hampster it claims to be environmentally friendly, biodegradable, odor control, and non-toxic.

Carefresh, yesterday's news and Cell-sorb are all great paper-based litters that work well.
