Little One, you seem like a half way intelligent young girl, but I can't understand is, nationalistic pride aside, why you follow in the foot steps of ignorance, and trolls when you could obviously contribute positive cultural experiences and understanding of China and the US from a Chinese point of view. Instead you more often than not make your self seem foolish by following the ignorance of the BSherman clones. I am not saying this to be rude, I am just making an observation. Having said that. I have lived in the US and Japan (as a child), and I frequently visited 7-elevens for snacks after school, now I am living in Taiwan and there are 3 7-Elevens within 10 mins of my house. I also do business in Guangzhou and Shenzhen on a frequent basis, so I have even been to 7-Eleven in these 2 places. With that said I feel I can adequately way in on this topic, and say that of the dozens of 7-Elevens that I have been to the ones in China are the most severely deficient ones that I have seen. The shop girls are either rude or ignore you because they aren't paid enough to care, the few that are nice and helpful are young girls who just started working and don't realize how bad they have it. The selection is nothing compared to the US or Taiwan, let alone Japan, there are no English speaking staff, the convince foods are questionable (ie. the fish balls, the strange smelling soups, the foul retched smelling thousand year and green tea eggs), I have seen mothers letting the children pee on the sidewalk infront of the store and drunks peeing on the building, the negative lists can go on. There are a few good sides to it but only a few. Japanese 7-Elevens have everything you could imagine in them, their service is beyond top notch, even on a bad day the men and women of Japanese 7-Elevens are nicer than their Chinese counterparts, the stores are clean and have an odd fresh smell, all of the food is kept very hygienic, there is a great selection of everything (books, magazines, games, manga, DVDs, stationary, greeting cards, pharmaceuticals). Most stores provide some level of English service, and the stores in large cities or areas near colleges & gaijin communities have excellent English services. Basically Japanese 7Elevens are practically a supermarket. American 7-Elevens have all the quick convenience items that any traveler or local would need and normally the service in each store is very good. However, since the US has more than 13 times the number of 7Elevens that China has of course you will find some that are underfunded and not well taken care of, in a bad neighborhood and with foul employees still you will find more that are model stores. Taiwanese 7-Elevens are absolutely fabulous, I would rank them in between Japanese and American 7-Eleven and definitely 10 notches above a Chinese 7-Eleven, the girls who work in them are always kind, always helpful, many of them can speak English (even if it is only enough to help find something), the stores are kept spotlessly clean, and have more convinces than any Chinese 7Eleven that I have visited. They do a have a few down sides, such as those foul retched smelling tea eggs. However, other than that they are great.

Your question belongs with the other from left field, such as why does sour cream have an expiration date on it, why is it called a freeway, or for that matter, a high way?
