Would you be willing to wait up to a week to have sex with her, for example, if your wife is on her period?

To be honest, most couples don't do anything but sleep on the wedding night. They are so exhausted from the actual ceremony and flying out to the honeymoon destination, that all they want is a little rest.

Most women know to take birth control pills during the whole wedding period to prevent getting their period on the wedding night.

Waiting until your wedding night is a matter of religious issues. You are not supposed to have sex before marriage because it is a SIN. I am not judging ANYONE. I am not married and have three children so I am obviously guilty on that very sin. However that is where the waiting until your wedding night comes in. If you are engaged and want to have sex that is your right. If you are just dating and want to have sex it is your choice. It is not one I am recommending because casual sex with a person you may or may not decide to spend your life with, just for the sake of doing it, is never a good idea. I say go with your heart. If your heart tells you that you are ready and you want to do it and are with someone you truly care about and love then go for it (of course do not GO FOR IT until you are a little older please) . You can only lose your virginity once so make sure it is the right person and the right time, you do not get a do over.

I have read, sorry I cannot exactly back this up, that roughly one-quarter to one-third of couples do not have sex on their wedding night. I believe the stat applies to the US, not sure about other countries. The thinking is that the couple has almost certainly already done it and they are too tired and/or drunk to do it on their wedding night.

Just a few days ago a story on CNN said that 95% of Americans (over a certain age, cannot remember) have had pre-marital sex at least once.

I was too tired to have sex on my wedding night; so was my husband. My married friends all report the same. Even the ones who had planned to have sex that night.

Sex on your period can be nice, though. Not everyone is willing to try it, but it's nice.

Our wedding night was probably the ONLY time my wife wasn't on her period while we were on vacation or something.
We did it twice and were finished in less than an hour. We were exhausted from the day it was like 2 am by the time we got back to our room.

My husband and I didn't have sex on the "wedding night" - our wedding was at an outdoor event, and we were camping in a tent for a few days. It wasn't a big deal, we had a good time at the wedding, and just went to sleep in our cots. We don't have sex all the time, tho, we just stick to our regular pattern.

When my ex-husband and I got married, we didn't have sex on our wedding night. We were too exhausted from the events of the day, and we could barely stay awake by the time we were finally able to be alone. We both passed out, still fully dressed LOL.

That's why you plan your wedding around things like that. I would not give up sex on my wedding night. It is so special to celebrate the union of you and your husband.

Yes, if he loves you enough to marry you, then he would probably wait a week, but maybe you could make an exception and have sex with him anyway. It is your honeymoon.
