This may be a little long............I may be overreacting a little, but for being a first time mom I dont really think that i am, we were at an in laws house last night and my half sister in law just loves our new baby, wants another one of her own, but can have one........so given she acts like when we come over its hers! Okay i dont have a problem with that, but last night she decides to go goo goo gaga and stick her fingers in my babys mouth for like 3 minutes playing with her, cuz my baby loves suckiing on her own fingers, am I nuts for thinking that is totally wrong and disgusting and way out of line.........I just felt like it was rude and uncalled for. I would like peoples comments. Thanks!!!

I agree with you too. That is your baby and even though she is family you don't realy know waht she does with her hands. Or when the last time she washed them to be honest. You need to sit down and tell her not to do that doesn't she know baby's amuin systems are weak. WHAT WAS SHE THINKING!!!!!!!!

Nope, you are not wrong... She stepped over the line a bit there. You are mom and should decide what is right for your baby. You simply should have told her, politely, that you would appreciate her not putting her hands in your child's mouth. Your child, your choice. I, personally, would not want someone putting their hands in my child's mouth, clean and washed or not. Good luck as the in-laws are ALWAYS a touchy subject when it comes to baby.

Not only is that disgusting and rude but she needs to spend more time trying to make a baby of her own and leave yours alone. I do feel you should have spoken up and said that you don't feel comfortable with her actions. People think that because there family its okay. guess what its not. Put her in her place.

That's an age old standby in lieu of a pacifier, but everyong knows germs abound on our hands, so probably not the best idea in the world.
I mean if YOU do it...fine...you know where your hands have been and how clean they are.
But I definitely wouldn't want anyone doing that to MY baby! YUCK!
Tell her that you read it's not sanitary to do that and you want only her pacifier/bottle/ or your boob in her mouth!

Tell her you've read that is bad for the baby and you've decided not to do it or allow anyone to do it. YOU are the mom. You decide what happens to your child. She's nasty to do that. I'll bet she wouldn't like it if you stuck YOUR fingers in HER mouth.

you are not out of line.....first of all, she is your baby and if you dont want peoples fingers in her mouth, you have the right to say that....not only is it rude, but not very clean or sanitary......if she wants to put things in your childs mouth she needs to ask you......i can see her asking you if she has a teether she can play with, but not her fingers!!!

i agree with you she shouldn't be putting her fingers in the baby mouth. and if i was you i would sit her down and tell her that you don't mind her playing with her, but you would appriciate it if she would stop putting her fingers in your baby mouth. and if she keeps doing it tell her if she can't respect your wishes, that she cant hold or play with the baby. that is your child and no one should be putting their fingers in any babys mouth weather their hands are clean or not.
