ALSO DO THEY START OVER WHEN STATE LINES ARE CROSSED ??

to clear up confusion, do they start @ 'mile 1' at the north state border and go to 'mile ?' at south state border; and start at 'mile 1' east border & go to 'mile ?' on west border ?? or is it just the opposite ???

Sometimes south to north, like I-75 in Florida.

South to north - as in, when you enter the state from the south, the mile numbers start at zero and go up from there. Yup, the mile numbers start over when you cross state lines.

Some states use the mile numbers for the exit numbers, but some don't (they don't in New England, for example).

They go North to south and East to West. They do start over at state lines if you are on the same road.

mile markers or post star at the south and work to the nort as well as they start at th west and work east. yes they do start over at the crossing of each state line or territory. this is also true to state routes as well.
