Everyday in the media, someone well known gets rapped for saying and doing something that is allegedly "offensive" to some other group of people.

Often, it seems to me that these stories border on the ludicrous, denouncments fly, lawsuits threatened on a whim, it seems like a never ending cycle that is designed to help a few people and bully others in a odd new breed of hatred. Free speech and expression seem almost too unnatural now among public figures who walk in a odd climate of fear.

So...do you feel that the Politically Correct movement has gone too far...or not far enough?

Why do you feel that way?

In the last 2 days I have heard 2 reports that show you how PC has gone toooooo far
1. A middle school publishes a list of children who have made the honor role. One. make that ONE. parent called to complain that since she had 3 children in the school, and 2 had made the honor roll, her 3rd child was all upset. The principal decided NOT to publish the honor role anymore. So...I guess we must stop praising people who achieve. SAD!
2. A school bus driver who happened to have a white beard wore a santa hat.....ONE parent called to say her child was "offended". He was told to remove the hat.
What have we done...we have robbed our children of the opportunity to learn how to cope with anything that upsets them. The world will continue to do so. We learned how to survive these things without becoming traumatized.....How will our children face the world? We are creating a generation of hot house flowers...victims all....and we are going to reap the rewards...Good luck!

It's gone way too far. When we start wishing each other Happy Holidays, instead of Merry Christmas because we don't want to offend non-Christians; make a big to do about a politician making a comment about a Hispanic person being "hot blooded"; or similarly idiotic things, it's gone too far.

Seems like it went too far the day it got started.. When a 4 year old can be convicted of sexual harassment (for wanting to be hugged), is just a bit much. Then to hear there were 28,000 such complaints this past year, nationwide... really makes one wonder where the lack of sensitivity really lies.

Too Far!!!!!

Now it seems we have to tiptoe around the minority of people who don't like the word "In God We Trust" and "One Nation Under God", people who don't like Christmas, people who don't believe in God, people who go against the grain in any way! Please!!!!!

What about majority rules? What about the rest of us and our rights?
