Yeah, backrounds is definitely not a word. As I typed this it came up with a red underline.

The ''word background'' only covers the background of the words you are typing. The actual background, covers the entire screen.

i have never heard of a word "backround"
maybe something like "go back around the block"
or "go back around the side of the house"

if i'm understanding you correctly, the word's background is the background of the "text box" you are writing in. the background is the backdrop of the entire document/picture you are working on
