Fog lights are a mixed blessing !

Because they never catch up with the car in front to see how irritating fog lights are when you are behind a car with them on, when visibility is far greater than the 100 metres below which they are required - and not at the first hint of mist!!

The E.C. regulations (and U.ok. regulation) require that the automobile is equipped with a minimum of one rear fog lamp, and that it might desire to be on the automobile centre line or on the off-element (driving force's element). Many autos have 2 fog lamps, considering makes it extra basic on the production facility construction the two left-hand-tension and maximum surprising-hand-tension autos - they'd in fantastic condition the comparable rear lamps for the two. although many autos that seem to have 2 somewhat in basic terms have one under pressure out up (My 2003 Renault Mégane had in basic terms one working rear fog lamp from the production facility - there became a bulb interior the LH bulbholder, yet there became no wiring, effectively meaning Renault had presented a spare bulb). there is not any requirement to have a nearside rear foglamp - except you have a LHD automobile interior the united kingdom.

Agreed, this lighing at the rear should be fitted with a sensor so stupid people can't turn on as once on they never turn the thing off, like in london with the fog we have now it blinds you and you can't see past the light, and with the street lights you don't need fog light at the rear, boy the standard of driving in london is rubbish as well there should be a check on them to see if they have a license in the first place if caught with them on.

Because they are either to stupid to operate their vehicle or overly careful which sucks for those of us behind them.
In Germany the rear fog light is not supposed to be used within town limits or when visibility is greater then 50 meters.

And yet you see them riding around in bliss on a clear day with it turned on. I find most figure it out with a few blinks of your front fog lights... or after passing a few flashes of your rear fog light.

There are lots of people who don't even know how to turn them off.

I feel for you!!!

For the benefit of the non-UK tossers who think they know better...

LAW: REAR fog lights MUST be fitted to all UK registerd vehicles.

LAW: Must not be used except when visibility is reduced to less than 100metres.

I HATE the stupid (insert expletive of your choice) that leave them on all the time - usually dopey incompetent drivers in shitty little cars that have their main beam on too....

If anyone wants the official word, it is that you MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (100 metres or less) and you MUST switch them off when visibility improves (that's for the UK)

Believe me if you have them use them because some drivers act totally blind behind the wheel, lol especially NYC drivers. I've lost 4 cars from being rear ended. So use them if you got em.

Don't know but it is illegal for that reason. It dazzles the driver behind and should only be used in thicker fog. The police will pull you and book you if they catch you.
