I am. Why not? I work my butt off all year, all of my gifts are wrapped, everyone is coming to our house this year so I don't have to drive anywhere, and my wife and I can sleep in Christmas morning. I'm getting tanked.

Gina, you tart, how dare you judge me! I have a life, one that is way better than yours. I work hard all year doing a thankless job, I rarely drink, and I'm going to be with people I care about. If I want to blow off some long accumulated steam and stress, then I'm going to! Get off your high horse, you're not so great. I won't be harming anyone but myself, so what do you care? I will take another answer's advice and stary hydrated and take Advil. Happy Christmas to you.

You bet I am! But I find it lame that so many people have such strong opinions for/against (mostly against) it. I feel it's best to just enjoy yourself and let things unfold as they will, and if you end up drunk by the end of the night, then there you go!

No not a chance to much to do. Can't afford a hang over Christmas day.

Enjoy yourself, keep hydrated and don't forget to ask for Advil for Christmas.

In my experience, getting drunk rather diminishes the enjoyment of the holiday. It impairs my physical ability, tends to make me ill, and is a central nervous system depressant, which makes me less than merry.

I have also discovered that getting drunk is not at all necessary.

No way. I will not be drinking alcohol because my husband can't drink anymore. He was killing himself with alcohol so he went into detox for 2 weeks. He hasn't had a drink in over a month. He's an alcoholic. I'm real proud of him that he was willing to get help to stop drinking. If we do drink it will be only soft drinks.
