I find that racist. I'd prefer my Santa to be chocolate, ganja smoking, pimp.

Oh, and no: "He's based on St. Nick" responses, please. Because they could just tell the kids he fell in Willy Wonka's chocolate river and he needs the cash, so he started a new pimpin' business or something.

Christmas needs to get with the times.

Exactly you moron, he's not real - so we should mess with his character.

"Silly racist"? First off, that's a feeble attempt at an insult (well the 'sill' part is) secondly, i'm not racist. People think if you say the word black these days you're a member of the KKK.

Man you're a bunch of dumb mother f***ers. You answer why he can't be black and completely neglect the pimp part.

Doesn't that tell you it's more or less not supposed to be taken seriously? Get out more jackasses, if you responded to people the way you do me, in real life - you'd have a boot stuck square up your @ss.

A brain? Of course. I've never heard of the word "divo" being used in any sort of sensible writing, however... in fact i've never heard of it used in anything.

Kinda brings the phrase; "yeah but, no but" to mind.

Oh and Santa Claus isn't part of the Christian faith. And no, the Christian faith didn't originate amongst white people.

That is the most ridiculous answer i have ever read, congratulations.

Is it because we are all dreaming of a white Christmas ?

Why can't there be a black Santa Claus as well? Madonna featured a black Jesus in her music video for Like a Prayer. I guess it is because the idea of Father Christmas originated in northern Europe, where there weren't many (or even any) black people at the time.

Why don't you promote positively, the idea of a black Santa and start a trend?

Santa is black in Africa but he's white in Europe and North America. No one really knows how Santa Claus looks like, but many countries think differently. If you want Santa Claus to be black, I'm okay with that. Just don't criticize the white Santa Claus.

That is racist to have a character that is not your race to be the same race as you. Santa was born white. He remained white ever since. Plus would you want a black man whom you don't know enter your house with a large napsack?

My mum told me when I was little that Father Christmas can be seen as white, brown, black, etc. It is the beauty the beholder sees in him.
In media and other things, he is usually seen as white. But, I once saw a black Father Christmas, so that why the question came up.
A Madly Merry, Wickedly Happy Christmas to all who celebrate!

well because for years he was white , in story books , movies and all, but you can find black santa's in stores like wal-mart. sears , jc penney, so if you want a black santa so bad, go buy one and buysome pimp clothes to go with it. preferably kids sizes since he will be on the short side.

Sorry, but he IS based on a Saint from SCANDANAVIA, and he might not be real, but he lives in the NORTH POLE - he's as white as white can get.
If you want your own holiday character that is black and smokes weed, make up your OWN! Who's stopping you from doing that?

who says he can't be. i saw a black santa lawn ornament and i thought it was the coolest thing ever. oh the possiblities if we expand our minds.

by the way...don't feel bad...coca cola made santa red and jesus white

by the way...african american's (that are actually from africa) hate being called african americans. they like to be called americans, because they live here, not africa. i think this makes a lot of sense.
