don't want to tell mom?

Ok, all women go through the same thing in their life, so your mom really should be able to help. Honestly, unless your mom is like evil, she'll help you. You really have to tell, since it would be really embarassing to go to school, with a giant red spot on the back of your jeans and then asking the nurse for help.
But I guess that's what you could do, you could tell your school nurse or counselor if they're girls.
Good luck finding someone other than your mom! (Though she's really the best choice)

I think I understand you. I could not tell my mother anything, she was never helpful or there for me. Unfortunately you need some help and she is probably the only one you can tell unless you have a sister.

If you really can't tell her and you have an allowance then take care of business yourself. Your not a woman yet but you are on your way. HOWEVER and I mean this your mom should be told in my opinion. You never know, maybe she will surprise you and handle this stage in your life very well.

Also, I used to be embarrassed myself as a result of having a period but now as a woman I am proud of it. I have a beautiful daughter because of it and it was wasted time being shy about it. HOLD YOUR HEAD UP.

Tell your mom. You'll certainly get a much better reaction than some of the idiots on Yahoo. She'll understand and help you. You should also close out the question and give Nancy "best answer", to prevent more stupid answers.

First, take a deep breathe and relax. If you don't want to tell your mom then ask a friend for a pad (or a tampon if you know to use them) Moms have been there and can probaly help. Getting your period is nothing to be ashamed about. When I first got my period I didn't tell my mom and I started gettingreally bad cramps and would have to stay home from school. The next day I stayed home again and my mom asked why and I had to tell her. She took me to the doctor and got me medicine for it. Moms can help and you souldn't be afraid to tell her.

Sounds like there is more to this, would you care to share? Getting your period is normal . Why are you trying to keep her in the dark.? I don't get it, You need enough pads to last 3-7 days it will most likley be light ,and incress as it goes on.If you really can't talk to your mom talk to the school nurse or an older female friend, you need more information than we can provide on here. hop this gets you thru the holidays, sorry I could't help you more.

Your mom will love to hear about this news, plus she's a great source of information for any question you may have. Remember, she went through the same thing you're going through now.

No worries, just a natural part of being a woman. :)

Your mom is not the enemy. If you are anything like me, you don't want your mom in your business--HOWEVER, she'll need to know to keep you supplied with "feminine hygeine products".

Here's what I wish I had known--don't make a big deal out of it. Your mom will play it cool, I'm sure, if you just ask for some pads.
