I have a nephew thats 5 and I need some ways to entertain him ... he likes trucks and dinosaurs...can you guys help me out and find some crafts or ideas to entertain him...and hes very very hyper!

If the day is nice take him outside and play. This will help burn up some excess energy and he'll have a lot of fun.
Color with him, play with clay or play dough, or read/tell stories.
Play with the cars & trucks with him! Kids get a kick out of that.
I play hide & seek with the kids. I act real silly, like I can't find them and the kids laugh and give themselves away.
Take silly pictures with a camera. The kids like hamming it up and looking at the pictures on the digital camera.

Take the kid out and do some stuff. If you have snow...Build a snowman, make snow angels have a snowball fight, go sledding. If no snow....keep him busy with other stuff.
Most 5 yr old boys like to bake Christmas cookies (as long as you're not anal about the mess), let him eat the dough and give him an icing mustache to lick off his face. The messier the better! Then you can teach him about cleaning up the mess that you made. Or buy a gingerbread house kit from the market and help him construct it (less work on your part).
If your tree is already decorated. Get him his own little three footer and put in on the porch or in another room. Let him pick out lights and ornaments at the dollar store. Help him decorate it. Pay him ten dollars for helping around the house and let him pick out $1 presents for everyone while you're there. Then make a big deal out of sneaking them into the house and wrapping them with him.
He'll love the feeling of giving them away.
Actively involve him in all the preparations!!! Let him know that he is VERY important and without his help, you won't be able to finish everything in time. Tell everyone else how BIG a help he was. He will learn that work pays off.

Be prepared to get a little crazy while he is there.
Sofa cushions, blankets, card table.....build a fort.
If you can be outdoors with him, prepare a treasure hunt in the back yard. Hide some small toys ahead of time and give him clues to look for them.
Have zillions of craft sticks on hand ......build a dinosaur with him using a glue stick or tacky tack. If he can handle markers (water based) he can paint it.
If you have an area where the mess is not an issue, have several small trucks on hand and a big box of sand. Or a floor mat painted with streets and roads. (You can create one yourself from a flannel backed table cloth in a solid color on which you draw roads, buildings, street signs, etc. with permanent markers.)

I've got 1 word for you....Benadryl! Just kidding: Get a cartoon video of trucks or dinosaurs. They also have plenty of inexpensive play sets that you can get at most department stores. One thing I did with my nephew was I took him out to the backyard and buried a bunch of "treasure" (which was just some inexpensive plastic toys I bought) and we went on a treasure hunt. It was a lot of fun.

You asked how "YOU" could entertain him. Yet, you refer to the trucks & dinosaurs. Engage him with yourself, interact with him! Play puppets, dance to music, get on the floor and wrestle with him - entertain him and you very well may entertain yourself in the process! Have fun!

Read him The Night Before Christmas or tell him the nativity story of Mary, Joseph and Jesus. Start singing Christmas carols.

5 year old children have a built in, self regulating entertainment system. Just let him find is own source of fun. Also watch his facial expressions while he is taking in his environment, it's amazing how wonderful they look when there busy playing,
