Cut the night crawlers into 1/2 - 3/4 inch pieces, and that should be big enough. Oscars are pretty voracious anyway, they'll tear apart something that is too big - but small bites are better, of course.

They will definitely keep eating if you keep feeding them; fish are very greedy and always hungry. Feed once or twice a day, and only feed for 1 minute, then stop feeding them.

Their staple diet should be a quality cichlid/oscar pellet, supplemented with nightcrawlers, shrimp, feeder fish, and beef heart.

All oscars get very large by aquarium standards. Average lengths, range from 11-13 inches. A small oscar would welcome a whole crawler, but I wouldn't feed them more than 1/4 or a 1/2 each. Once crawler for all of them would be fine. Oscars will eat just about anything they can fit in their mouth. Their diet should be primarily a good pellet food, with 'snacks' varying from worms, crickets, blood worms, dried krill, crayfish, etc. Stay away from feeder fish bought at your local pet store as they are very often diseased, and carry parasitic. I feed mine twice a day. When juvies, three times a day wouldn't hurt, but be diligent about keeping the tank clean! These fish need clean water to thrive, and are very prone to diseases linked to dirty water. HITH (Hole in the head) being the most common.

my oscar is scared of the worms and goes to the bottom of the tank and lays flat on his side until you remove it. He is spoiled however, and yes this is soooo possible he.. well i presume its a he.. anyway he even likes to be petted. My oscar likes to eat a bite of glazed donut about as big as your pinky, roman lettuce was a phase pretty much and mostly after the first couple of feeding. They have pellets that you can feed them I'd use the worm as a treat if yours aren't scared lol. The pellets which will give them a good diet to grow big are called chinchillid pellets, been buying them for so long i know the can sorry for the bad spelling ;) For a treat once a month I buy 30 gold fish mine eats these in one night.. We've had him for about 4 years so he is quite large. Judge teh size of feeder fish to your oscars mouths so that they will be small enough to eat in one gulp. Also be careful where you get your feeder fish as you don't wnat to make your fish sick with diseases from those fish as they are the less taken care of by the stores sometimes.

Oscars will not stop eating if there is food they will eat it as babies, you can feed them 2-3 times a day as an adult once every other day.

oscars are not like lizards. They don't eat everything preveiously living. Stick with worms. they can't eat a mouse
