I would try at night in hopes it helps him/her to sleep longer at night.

It's best to introduce new foods earlier in the day in case of allergic reaction it won't wake them or you during the night. I offered it at breakfast as they are more receptive to eating as they are very hungry. They say you're supposed to offer formula/breast first, then top off with pablum-you can wait a little while after the bottle so their milk has time to digest. Really choose when it's convenient for you and when your child is alert and a bit hungry. If they're too tired, they will just fuss and not take the food, and may associate food with a negative. Good Luck, just remember to be patient and their stomachs are very small, so don't expect your child to eat a lot at first, they need to get used to the newness of it all. You can mix it with formula so it's has a creamier taste and they are use to that flavor, also make it runny at first, and when he's use to that you can increase the consistency.

It is recommended you try pablum at 4-6 months of age. You need to judge if your baby is ready.

Breastmilk or Formula should always be a baby's main food source. Pablum and baby foods are not meant to replace any breastmilk/formula feedings. Its merely meant to teach your baby to eat with a spoon and provide some extra calories and calcium for babies growing bodies and bones

With that said, I give pablum (baby cereal) after their morning bottle, that way I have insured that my babies have had their formula. When I tried to give them cereal at 4 months (doctor said it was ok, but they werent ready) I tried around bedtime. They were restless afterwards and refused to go to sleep at their regular bedtime. My husband and I ended up staying up an extra 2 1/2 hours trying to settle them down. This happend twice.

We stopped the cereal and tried again at 5 1/2 months, and they were ready for it. I also gave it in the morning which eliminated any bedtime fussiness.

good luck :)

Offer them pablum in the morning so that you can watch to see if they are going to have an adverse reaction to it during the day.

Assuming the baby is over 4-6 months old you can try offering any new food around 11 am. That way you can watch out for any allergic reaction during the day.

Pablum? I think no human should be eating that stuff.

For time of day, we chose when she was wide awake and full of energy to give her solid foods for the first time. Seperate from bottle/breast. After that we'd feed her at the same time we ate, as kids want what the adults are eating.

Give your baby something natural for a first food. Something easy to digest. I think steamed and mashed turnip radish carrot and other really soft steamed root vegetables is best. That's what we gave our daughter, and she loved it. Still loves it years later. Get your kids started on natural foods from the start and when they get older, they'll try junk food as we all do, but they'll tend to revert to their childhood diet when an adult.

Daytime, for sure.
First of all he will be hungry, and second, if he gets any reaction like gas or colic, it wont keep you awake the whole night.

Dont worry, babies generally dont get those reactions, but you never know. Yours might be the rare one. Never take anything for granted.

Mix it first with the milk from his bottle for the first few times.
