If you haven't got any wireless equipment then you will need

1. a wireless modem/router (about £35 on eBay). This will replace your broadband modem.

2. a pcmia wireless adapter or usb wireless adapter for the laptop (both about £10 on ebay).

I have recently set up the same thing. email me if you have problems. Good luck.

Your best options with a laptop are to get eiher a USB WiFi connector or a PCMCIA WiFi card. With XP both of these options will probably be "plug and Play" and with USB2 theres nothing to choose between the 2 so far as performance is concerned, but from a practical point of view the USB version always leave you with a "lump sticking out of a USB port" which at bestets in the way and at worst WILL get broken, whereas a PCMCIA version is mostly "inside" the laptop.

Both can be picked up for less than £20 from eBay. There's a really good ebay supplier I've discovered, their store's link is below.

get a wireless PC card. It should have PCMCIA slots on the side and a wireless card would be about £30. You can also get a USB wireless dongle for about £20-£30.

Make sure it is PCMCIA on the laptop though, some newer ones only have the newer expresscard slots

A pcmia wireless network card is needed. This fits right into the side (PCMCIA slot). Your laptop should have one.
Linksys SpeedBooster 802.11g Wireless Notebook Card is suggested. you must also make sure your router is wireless as well. To really make this easy to share files/printers, ect., networkmagic.com does the trick.

Sign on to BT Internet online and you will be able to order the appropriate wireless router etc and get a discount. I've used BT for some years now and found it very reliable.
