Currently, Ethiopia has massed thousands of troops inside Somalia. Dont know about you, but thats a good enough reason to attack.

Was once a transitional government (now locked in Baidoa), under which corruption flourished, crime was ripe, and there was general lawlessness across S. Somalia. Somalis were fed up and so a coalition of opposing forces, under the name of the UIC (Union of Islamic courts) overthrew the Government in the capital Mogadishu and has taken over much of S. Somalia. This has ruffled the Christian nation of Ethiopia, so they wanna fight.

Under the UIC, there has been a restoration of law and calm. see: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6106398.stm

Tuesday ultimatum for Ethiopian troops to leave has expired, so now the guns will do the talking.

Also, and issue of proxy war between Ethiopia and Eritrea.

Quite frankly its a case of Ethiopia sticking their skinny little asses where they dont belong, and soon gettin a carbon-imprint on them when booted out.

ps: stop asking which WAR!!!! She has clearly stated the fighting between Ethiopia and Somalia is what shes talking about!!

from what the western media is saying it's about...

(note: I had to decipher the words according to my world view)
Somalia is being taken over by Islamic fundamentalists (hardcore)
Ethiopia is trying to help the puppet government of Somalia to remain in power
Iran is helping the Somali (SICC)
USA is helping the Ethiopian invaders that are protecting the shaky Somali government

who stirred up the hornets nest?
The USA & Iran.
The Iraq war has radicalized young Muslims all over the world
9/11 attacks on the WTC has embolden the Muslim world
The USA military establishment is very happy about that because $$$
Now the USA has a good excuse to set up Super Military Bases all over the Middle East and Africa.

It started out because of OIL now it's; 'all Islamic territory has to be conquered and subjugated.'

reecie - did you even READ the question?!? Has NOTHING to do with Iraq, moonbat!

As to the Ethiopian/Somalia war, I really don't know, and my international relations expert who I usually quiz about these things is gone for the holidays.

Here's a link to a site that seems to have a lot of good information: http://allafrica.com/stories/200612100001.html

THe war is about oil. America wants Iraq oil because its such an important essential to keep the world moving. In history superpower conutries (which is what America is) usually only last 100 years. Our time is about up its looking like but we Americans don't want it to. If we have oil then our power won't fade away cause oil is so important and Southwest is the biggest sources in the world. They may oneday gain that power and America one day be nothing. I think either Southwest Asia, China, Korea, or Japan may one day take over.
