I want to reinstall windows, but everytime I do it, it saves my documents and music, etc I want everything to be completly gone, I want to start fresh. When I go to reinstall it, It says to delete the partition, but it wont let me. Can somone help me with a step by step process? Please

another thing you can do is boot into windows

go to your command prompt (start->run) and type "cmd"

At the cmd type (inserting for c: the drive letter):
format /q c:

Answer yes to all the warnings.

Power off and power on your computer with the win xp disk in. Install windows.

Actually, you can do a clean install even from an Upgrade version of XP.

I suggest you follow this link & print the instructions for reference during the install process. It is fairly detailed & includes a screen shot of each step.

Try choosing "Format the Partition" rather than "Delete".

Okay do you know the name of your hard disk? if so you can go to there web site and download disk wizard or it mite be another name for it depending on the brand name. Like mine is a Seagate all I do is go here http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/drivers/discwiz.html
and download disk wizard and put them on 2 floppies reboot with floppy disk1 in your PC and thin disk 2 this will allow you to zero fill your hard drive meaning erase you entire hard drive. And then you can start out new.

You need to pay attention to the commands, where it says do you want to partition? you need to press L. No partitions.

if have just an upgrade, it probably won't let you.
