Are you talking about the made-for-TV movie from the 80's about a nuclear explosion in America?

If so, it is a pretty good movie. I remember watching it as a kid.

I remember that when it first aired. If I my memory is correct it was a multi-part miniseries. I was young at the time and it scared me really bad. It definitely made an impression on me. I often think about what would happen if didn't have access to something that I need on a daily basis, like medication, due to a tragedy such as nuclear holocaust. The thought of not only having to deal with the world dieing but going through med withdrawal on top of it. YIKES!
