Floating is a combination of two things, treading water by moving your hands and feet and the air space in your lungs. A lot of people do not like getting their face wet, so instead of a front float, here goes with a back float. In the shallow end, walk down until the water is at mid chest level. put your arms atraight out and take a deep breath and slowly lean backwards and let the water support you partially. You want to be just deep enough that when you start leaning back, you can feel your weight lifting off your feet as the water starts to support you..It really helps to have a friend at this point to put a hand under the small of your back at your waist to help you stay up until you get the idea of how to do this for yourself. Don't flop, just slow and easily lean backwards with your arms out. Treading water is easy, it is simply slowly moving your hands through the water to help lift yourself. Bend your arms at the elbow so your forearm is parallel to your body and now move your hands toward your body with your thumbs higher than your little finger. As you move your hands toward your body, you will be pushing "down" on the water. Then tip your hands so your thumb is lower than your little finger and move your hands away from your body, again, pushing :down" on the water. Pushing down on the water causes you to be lifted in the water, cause and effect, action and reaction. Once your body is mostly floating and you're are treading with your hands, push gently off the bottom and slowly move your legs like riding a bicycle, small circular motons. Do not bend at the waist. Most people at this point try to bring their knees too close to ward their chest, which is exactly the wrong thing to do. You want to remain relatively eract, not bent at the waist, as if you were standing straight up on the bicycle. The bicycle action helps bring your feet and legs closer to the surface. You CAN do this all by yourself, but it will be MUCH easier with a friend to help hold you up at first until you can get the treading motions down. A key factor is to do all of these things gently, slowly, easily. Thrashing in panic never got anyone anywhere except dead.

Some of these people have the right idea... but there's more to it. It has a lot to do with your body density. Two people who weigh exactly the same amount can go into a body of water: one will float and the other will sink. A more athletic/muscular person is more likely to sink, while a person with a bit more body fat (most women, sorry ladies) will float. IT's more complicated than that... it just has to do with the ratio of how much you weigh vs. how much space you take up.
However, even people who would normally sink can learn to float. Some of the fastest swimmers in world sink to the bottom of the pool when they stop moving. You just have to learn to tread water and/or swim.

Well, no matter what, you never really sink low because of the air in your lungs that keep you up. '
Just like when little kids are learning, lie on your back, and put your arms and legs out and apart like a starfish. Once you can do that, you can try doing the doggie paddle or like water polo people the egg scrambler thingie, or you can do breastroke kick while sort of " standing" in the water.

It's hard to explain, but it's a combination of keeping enough air in your lungs-even while breathing, to help you float, plus "moving" the water with your hands, arms, legs, and feet. If you move your hand through water, you'll feel it sort of "push" against your hand. You can direct your hands, arms, legs, and feet to "push" the water downwards, therefore keeping yourself up. It takes lots of practice. I'd suggest you sign up for swim lessons.

You only drown becase you think you're going to drown... people float naturally ontop of water since we are filled with air, but when you move around and mess up and run out of breath you sink... just lie on your back, relax, and breath.

there's no chemical clarification for draining the pool. surprising the pool with a intense chlorine concentration for twenty-four hours might purify the water. the undertaking of course is dealing with the psychological problems. i think of the only way maximum folk might ever pass back interior the pool is that if it replaced into drained and acid-washed.
