Go to a MAC counter and have one of the reps. do it for you. It is hard to say what shape you need to draw on your eyes because we have no real picture of you to work with.

For dark brown eyes you would want to use a violet or black. Lighting eyeliner with a lighter before you use it makes the eyeliner darker. Now, you only do that to cheap eyeliners. Get a good eyeliner and it depends on the shape of your eye. I use the eyeliner on the inside of the eyelashes. ( the inside of my bottom eye lid) I use black and on the top of my eyelid above my lashes I use a thin line of liquid liner. I use MAC or BED HEAD (Toni & Guy). It's a bit expensive but it will last because unlike other eyeliners you will only have to apply it once a day. Chanel is also a good brand. Oh, and believe it or not Mary Kay sales good eyeliners.

liquid is better for a thinner line but if it is the first time, i guess it is with a stick right? well i think you should use a dark dark black eyeliner so that it helps lighten your eyes in the sun because it helps bring the color out more. (i have dark brown eyes too) and i dont know about the whole lighting it with a lighter... <<3

Liquid or pencil?
I hate liquid. Use a pencil as close to the lashes as possible, all the way across the top unless your eyes are close together, then do the outer 2/3rds. On the bottom , do all but the corners, exceptions are the same. For a daytime look, apply eyeshadow over the liner to soften or use the tip of an eraser to blend the line.

1) Gently stretch the corner of your eye.
2) Start from the inner corner and draw a line as close to the lash as possible.
3) Use a sharp liner (not too sharp).
4) Try revlon colorstay liner or MAC fluidline. Both of which are top liners. See this source for why. http://www.beautyqa.com/ Try black with brown eyes.
5) Smile and look into the mirror because you're still beautiful even if the line is straight or not! : )

ps Don't light your liner!!???

omg my first time apllying liner was hell! whenever i brought it even NEAR my face, id wince and throw it across the room! but..like everything else, you get used to, you need to give it a shot.. i tried carefully at the corners in the begining and worked my way to the middle. liner is generally not something you should wear every day, but once in a while you should do it. ummm just know that its not at all painful, its like putting on make up on any part of the face. black and blu is usally appropriate unless youre weird. a lighter shade first would probably not make a dofference but im not so sure. good luck!

I use the automatic pencils that you can click. Each morning, I rub off the day before's and click a new bit of liner. I like the goth/mod look..... close your eye and pull it outwards from the outer corner of your eye (like you're making Chinese eyes) and rub the pencil from corner to corner really dark. Take your finger and smudge it upwards just a bit so that you can make your eyes smoky. When I do the bottom of my eyes, I like to put the liner on my lashline and above (in that little skin part above the lash line) and smudge it on the lashline as well.

I have dark brown eyes and I use black black. Jane makes a good starter product. I love Maybeline products.

The best way to find out the correct color for you is to go to the mall & find a store that has those makeup displays. Typically any big department store is the best way to go. There are women there that'll help you & as long as you buy one thing, they'll be happy.
