Why is it that when I ask questions about my bf's son I get 2 different kinds of answers. I always get the...."You should treat him as if he were your own...." and then I get...." You're not his mother, so quit acting like one..." Which is better advice? Which one should I listen to?

If you love the boy, mother him. Nothing wrong with that.

Hey there, I just answered the other one of yours about the Christmas gifts with the kid. Well I think both because, you do need to treat him as your own, even if he's not...I also think the other one because you shouldn't be acting too much like his mother. The kid will probably get uncomfortable around you, knowing that your not his mother, and you're trying to replace his real mom's place. that's all, and good luck!

I think you need to talk to your BF about it. First of all it isn't like you are married yet so acting like his mom and you aren't even a step mom is probably not a good Idea. Second even if you were married to his dad I dont think it is your place to treat him like he is your child. He has 2 parents already. I think you need to treat him like a person. Love him because he is a part of your BF but you cant discipline him. I hope I helped :)

There's a fine line there. Treat him as your bf but don't smother him. He needs room to breathe and he doesn't need a momma but he wants to be taken care of by you.

you shouldn't listen to strangers on this at all, but to your heart.Does he accept you as his mother? You may be all he has, I don't know the circumstance.

It depends on the question.
