Now, I am being serious. OK...so...when you take a pill to relieve pain (apsrin, etc) it goes to your brain which in turn releases signals to the areas you are hurting to be gone.?! So, can you rewire your brain to make yourself feel that pain is gone w/out taking anything? Can you concentrate so hard that you actually THINK you are taking a pill. I dont think if this makes any sense or not.

A normal person can not control brain signals to stimulate that part of the brain without medication (asprin ect.) A scientist with state of the art electos connected to the brain can create the same brain signal. Also a medicine man that is in tune spritually can meditate and tap into that part of the brain to create the same signal stimulate to relieve pain. So yes it can be done but it takes a special person not your adverge person. good luck

Yes, it's called the "placebo effect".

During drug trials, patients participating in study are given a pill every day and told to monitor how they feel. Some people are given a medicine and some people are given a placebo (or sugar pill with no medicine in it). Interestingly, the people given the placebo often report feeling different when they have not taken any medicine at all.

Perhaps this is not exactly what you were asking but it shows how the mind can play tricks on us. We expect to feel the effects of a medicine (for example, pain relief) and therefore we actually feel the effects.

Deep meditation can also bring people into altered states where they feel differently without taking pills.

I do not know if something like that is feasible simply because you cannot tell yr brain to produce the ingredients that there are in a pill in order to make the pain go away.

Maybe you mean to try and concentrate so hard that u can forget in a way that you are in pain by ignoring it ... But that is also difficult...

yes you can control some parts of the brain. You can fool it into thinking you have pain when you dont so it will also work the other way.
