Go to Bed Bath and Beyond. Look for the door that says Beyond and go through it. There you will meet a man named Morty who, if he likes you, will give you a special remote control that will enable you to fast forward through anything. (Thought maybe you could use a smile)

I'm not sure about MD, but in Minnesota the courts are so backed up in divorce court the scheduling doesn't allow much for faster divorces. Mine was set a year out!
What I did was get a legal separation right away.
Sorry, maybe this isn't much help... Best of luck!

It doesn't need to take a long time. Usually if it drags on, and it's not the result of a disagreement between the parties, it is because the lawyers are sitting on their files. The best thing you can do is make at least one call a week to your lawyer to check the status of your file. All you have to say is you are just calling for an update to see where your case is at. Another good question is to ask "What do we have to do next?" or "When is the next court date?" Trust me, I work for a lawyer, they often need reminding. Plus they will get tired of you calling them and they will get it done so they don't have to hear from you anymore!

The best way to make a divorce speedy is to work out an agreement concerning bills, assets, and any support between the two of you. If you can do this without arguement, get it in writing submit it to the court and they will go by what you request. Otherwise you leave a lot of the decision making in the courts hands.

I'm afraid there isn't. I live in Maryland too and my sister was recently divorced. You have to go through a 1 year seperation first, but as neither of you are fighting over anything it should be quick after that.

Usually the speediest divorce is when one person is at fault and admits it, and there is no separation of property. I have a friend who divorced her husband - she put in the papers that he committed adultery which he admitted, and there was no property to divide. It only took a couple of months in NJ. A lot of states do not allow no - fault divorce. If there is no fault of either party, the court usually requires at least one year of separation before divorce is granted.
