I have been on several holidays in Dubai and the shopping is the best in the world. Ibn Battuta Mall is my fave because it isn't so crazy busy as City Centre and it is sooo cool looking. City Centre is too packed for me. Good stores but sometimes you can hardly move. It is a fun place to go people watching. And there is a beautiful ladies spa called the Paris Gallery Spa. Spa's are another great thing to do in Dubai. They aren't too expensive. Try a Morracan bath. Mall of the Emirates is pretty amazing too with the ski hill in it.

Eating is my other favorate thing to do in Dubai. The Lebanese food is fantastic and there are some good sushi restuarants too. There are also a lot of good pubs and night clubs with live music. Also try a Dhow dinner cruise if you can. That is pretty nice.

For sights make sure you see out of the city to see the desert. There are lots of tours and go to Wild Wadi. It is the best water park I have ever seen.

Shopping is excellent.
Two new shopping malls, Mall of the Emirates and Ibn Battuta. Similar shops but Ibn Battuta is less crowded as it is slightly further out of town.
Recommend the skiiing at Mall of the Emirates.
If you want to buy gold go to the Gold and Diamond Park next to Mall of the Emirates. It is as cheap as the Gold Souq and you are less likely to get ripped off. On average you should be looking to knock off between 30% - 50% of the first price a shop keeper offers you for gold jewelry.
