I automatically respect everybody's right to live & exist & have their own beliefs & opinions, all people are entitled to this. Other forms of respect (ex. respecting someone for the type of person that they are) are definitely earned & not an entitlement. I expect nothing less from other people toward me, if I don't conduct myself in a manner that commands respect then I sure don't have any right to expect it.

This is what all the fighting is about. If we respected others, and they respected us, this would be a peaceful world. Yet, it's not so. We tend to see others as either better or inferior to us. That's where the problem and fighting comes into play. So you can't really earn respect over the long run, only in the short tun. Because if you do something inappropriate, you will be looked down upon. If you do something appropriate you will be looked up to. Of course, we should all be entitled to respect but our emotions divid us as humans.

I am respectful to everyone but I don't respect just anyone until they earn it. And they don't even have to earn it from me - if they are decent people, I will respect them. If I know nothing about the person, I hold all judgement.

Basic respect as a human being should be automatic, unless you are surrounded low lifes. Just about every other kind of respect must be earned.

beyond all doubt! Think about it, do you automatically respect the stranger on the street? What about them is it that you respect? You earn respect by having qualities that are valued by the person giving the respect.

Everyone is entitled to respect. But if u act crazy and disrespect others then u can't expect them to be respectful to you. Right?

I told my kids and their friends that they have my respect until they do something to lose it and then they have to earn it back. I think people should be respected until they give you a reason not to.

Peeple/creatures have to earn Dragon's trust. It is not something she gives away willy-nilly to just evaryone. Gotta earn it.
