when i click a link to a page on the net it will occasionaly come up blank but with 'about blank microsoft' as the page name. it will then not let my close the page so i have to minimise it so i can carry on sufing.why is it doing that, how can i stop it and why wont it let me close those pages thanks for your help

about blank is an browser window that opens without specified url. Blank is the html code for new page. Microsoft provides the Trident browser engine used by UR browser. So It the name of the page and the browser/engine vendor.
My browser k-meleon would write: about:blank (K-Meleon).
when I open a page without specified URL
(i set it that way - I could have also chosen last open page or home page ) It willl go to an error page when it cannot load a page.
Unless You set it to load about blank in certain situations it can be a default setting. Unless You have set Microsoft as default or homepage Your browser seems to go to an unspecified page when it has a problem. A browser should only go to pages that You want or to the error page if that is not possible.
When You did not set it? To me what Your browser does is a bug - upgrade to better version or browser.

This is the default "Cannot find the page you were looking for" page. It simply means the page cannot be displayed. If you are having trouble closing them, that is a different sort of system error. You could just right click on the minimized tab and click "Close", but that might not always work. I suggest going to Firefox or some other tabbed based browser.

About Blank is when you set your homepage in Internet Explorer to open to a blank page. I've never noticed it say "About Blank Microsoft" but I'd imagine it's the same thing.

"about blank" means blank page in internet explorer but "about blank microsoft", i have not seen that one before. If it is the first one that you mean in your internet browser, you can change it to another homepage by click on

Its when your home page is set to a blank page.
Go in the top menu of your browser - TOOLS - INTERNET OPTIONS and change your home page to something about than abt.blank

I hate to say it,but this sounds like your or someone else on your computer is searching to many free porn sites, I may be wrong --but this is why I have this problem --(not scared to admit it) you must go to internet options and clear all search history and temporary internet files,this will clear your problem..

sounds like your got a virus on your computer, you'll need to get it fixed or it will get worse try avg free for scan and immunization
